Soma [From the Greek]:
The living body in its wholeness; mind, body and spirit.
Change is possible.
A psychoanalyst recently said to me, "I was shocked when I first started somatic coaching because I saw people begin to make real and lasting changes in their lives. I thought, 'Can this be possible?' In 20 years of psychoanalysis I hadn't seen that. I was shocked and, of course, I was compelled to learn more."
Traditional therapy often focuses on verbal recall of past events and analyzing their interplay with ongoing life issues. However, sometimes the deepest resolutions and changes happen with and through the felt senses, accessing the cerebellum and brainstem (reptilian brain) and the limbic (emotional) brain. Life coaching and somatic bodywork reveal and access the wisdom of your own body. The answers you seek, the healing you deserve, and the ability to live the life you long for are already within you.
Life coaching and somatic bodywork are used as tools to focus on the goals and the desires of the client. Progress is accomplished with an equal partnership between the client and the coach.
